Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics is an exit-only qualification for the Master of Business Analytics (C04380) or (C04379), a unique transdisciplinary program of study in business analytics. With subjects drawn from the UTS Business School and the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, students are provided a course structure which fits their background and experience. The course is delivered in blended mode, combining contemporary online and face-to-face learning experiences in UTS’s leading-edge facilities.

The course is suitable for students from both business and IT backgrounds who seek to upskill and develop the skills required to meet the growth in emerging careers in business analytics.

Course aims

A unique feature of the Business Analytics program is the inclusion of studios, where students apply the technical skills they develop on to real-world projects. Students in the Master of Business Analytics (Extension) have the option of completing two specialisations across a wide choice of streams including Business Services Analytics, Data Analytics, Financial Analytics, Marketing, Software Development and Interaction Design stream.

Career options

Career options are incredibly varied as virtually every company in every industry now collects huge amounts of data that needs to be interpreted and analysed to inform decision-making. Graduates from this program are able to provide valuable insights on matters such as fraud detection, logistics optimisation, customer acquisition and retention, and demand forecasting.

3.1 Evaluate and apply professional ethical standards, the principles of sustainability, social responsibility, and Indigenous values as business analysts
4.1 Apply data analysis techniques to business information to help guide effective decision-making in local and international contexts

Course duration and attendance

The course may be completed in one year of full-time or two years of part-time study.

The course totals 48 credit points and consists of a combination of core, including foundation stream, and elective subjects.
