This subject critically analyses assessment practices and policies in educational, training and workplace contexts. It explores the educational issues in assessment and how these relate to the purposes of the assessment. The subject critiques and analyses models and methods of assessment and their appropriate use, and systematically evaluates assessment practice across a range of educational and training contexts. Topics include the influence of individual characteristics on assessment, ethical issues in assessment, the difference between assessment and evaluation, consequences of assessment, and constructing measures.
