Overview

This exit-only program allows students to gain in-depth knowledge and skills in engineering management. The course provides an opportunity for engineers and technical specialists to deepen the knowledge and skills gained in their first degree while expanding their managerial and professional engineering knowledge.

This program allows students to interface between engineering, technology and management. The integration of carefully tailored coursework delivers graduates who understand the professional, societal and environmental context and have developed a range of management and engineering capabilities to respond to it.

Career options

Students who have a basic undergraduate engineering degree are able to enhance their ability and knowledge, enabling them to gain and hold employment in relevant engineering fields.

Course intended learning outcomes

A.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates are culturally and historically well informed, able to work as respectful professionals with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
B.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates identify and engage a range of stakeholders to interpret values, needs, and priorities, define performance requirements and parameters.
C.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates apply problem solving methods to propose or review management solutions and implementation strategies, exercise judgement to reflect upon system sustainability, constraints, conflicts, risks and uncertainties.
D.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates apply and evaluate information, concepts and theories in one or more areas of Management practice, generate and review innovations, solutions and strategies, using ethical, social, commercial and environmental metrics.
E.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates communicate in a variety of ways, in teams and on projects, and to different audiences, collaborate with others in teams.
F.1 Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management graduates self-assess competence and identify ethical dilemmas in management, seek and provide constructive reviews of personal and team members' Management skills.

Course duration and attendance

This course is offered on a one-year, full-time or two-year, part-time basis.

The course is made up of subjects that provide students with flexibility. Classes are usually held in standard mode (weekly attendance) or in block mode (attend classes only two or three times during the session per subject).
