Students completing this subject gain an in-depth knowledge of the federal and state laws that regulate marketing activities in Australia. Current challenges to marketing law such as the rise of social media, artificial intelligence and data analytics are also explored. Topics covered include consumer protection, product liability, product safety and standards, industry standards for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, intellectual property, the regulation of competition, and risk assessment and compliance strategies. Students select an area of marketing law to research and present, and in this way deepen their knowledge and further develop their research and communication skills.
